19-year-old Sunshine Coast music performer Mayah, plays a modern blend of sounds merging pop, R&B, Soul, Folk, and hip-hop.  In 2019, Mayah graduated high school and recorded and released her official debut single, ‘Endless Mistakes’ which has clocked up over 468,000 streams online and been added to taste-makers playlists all around the world.

There is a bright career for this young talent who has been into music from a very young age.  Apparently, Mayah could sing before she could talk, was dancing at age 3, and began composing songs in primary school.  A consummate performer, music is truly in her blood.

Mayah has been the lead singer in her primary school rock band, a nationally competitive hip hop dancer and a regular lead performer in high school theatrical and musical stage productions throughout her school days.

Mayah wrote her first song age 8 and composed and recorded her first produced song ‘Bye Bye Bully’, relating to difficulties she was experiencing at school, and she has continued to write, develop and create songs ever since. Mayah’s music tells stories of love, empowerment, courage, betrayal, broken hearts, and the importance of optimism with a depth and poignancy that belies her young years.

Mayah’s second release, ‘Butterflies’ (The Rush Inside), is a mix of indie, rock, pop and hip hop blended into what she likes to call a ‘soulful rock’ sound, at once refreshingly new and yet distinctively traditional. Released in March 2020, prior to the Covid19 lockdown, ‘Butterflies’ now has over 40,000 Spotify streams to date. A celebration of love and new life, in this song, with its cruisy melody and traditional rock undertones, two worlds really do collide. Mayah’s third and most recent release, ‘Making Space’, is a beautiful song about peace, love and non-violence towards not only each other, but ourselves and our planet.

Mayah & The Band, a newly established group of local musicians formed to showcase 19-year-old local singer-songwriter Mayah’s music on the Sunshine Coast. Drummer Colby Cummins, lead guitar/back-up vocals, Cory Josland, and bassist/keyboardist, Samuel Westbrook, bring an energetic, dynamic, and upbeat rock vibe to Mayah’s soulful sounds adding a refreshing and highly entertaining element to her popular solo performances. Colby and Mayah forged their musical partnership in high school and his intuitive drum style perfectly complements Mayah’s unique sound. Samuel, with his eclectic, diverse, and wonderfully skilled instrumental flair, has been with the band for the past six months and Cory, newly recruited outstanding local performer, brings a rich wealth of musical talent to beautifully complete the ensemble. Mayah currently plays shows around South East Queensland both solo, as a duo and with her band.
