8 BALL AITKEN’S 11TH ALBUM OUT NOW!
Internationally acclaimed Australian swamp-blues-rocker, 8 Ball Aitken, delves deeper into the low down grooves with his 11th album, Swamp Blues 2. It’s a funkier follow-up album to last years Swamp Blues release that hit #2 in the Australian Blues Charts.
For more than a decade, 8 Ball Aitken has performed worldwide, touring 200+ gigs annually. His live shows have rocked music festivals across Australia, USA, Canada, Asia, and Europe. Eight years ago he relocated to Nashville where he has honed his songwriting, guitar playing, and showmanship with some of the best in the blues business today.

Swamp Blues 2 contains thirteen tracks with all the energy of his live performances. 8 Ball co-produced the record with David Percefull at Yellow Dog Studios in Wimberley, Texas. He played all the guitars and enlisted almost the exact same crew as Swamp Blues, with the addition of Buddy Leach (George Thorogood & the Destroyers) who played baritone sax and keys. Legendary drummer JJ Johnson (Tedeschi Trucks Band/John Mayer) was behind the drum kit, Glenn Fukunaga played bass, Dave Percefull provided the Hammond organ. Guthrie Kennard contributed low gritty backing vocals, while Julie Meridan sang the sweeter and higher harmonies.
“I’d hoped for both albums, Swamp Blues and Swamp Blues 2, to fit together as a continuously themed body of work and I believe we achieved this. We refined the swampy sound to another level on the second time around.”

8 Ball Aitken penned ten of the songs alone. He co-wrote ‘The Bed That You Made’ with Harmony James, and the New Orleans inspired ‘Tremolo Rain’ and feel good ‘Living on the River’, with Dallas, Texas bluesman Guthrie Kennard.
8 Ball is performing in Australia for the next four months, before a 2020 UK & USA tour.
