A Big Year for Hostile Entertainment and David Dean

As 2025 comes to a close, David Dean and the team at Hostile Entertainment would like to wish everyone a Happy New Year.
This year has been an unforgettable one for David and his businesses, Hostile Entertainment, Turn Up Event, and David Dean Events. From launching a brand-new website to booking, promoting and mentoring emerging and national artists, attending world-class live shows, as well as continuing to grow Queensland’s local music scene, 2025 has been a year of momentum, connection, and creativity.
When David says, “keep it live, loud, and local” he truly means it.
Throughout 2025, David attended an incredible number of live shows, both national and international, reconnecting with the heartbeat of the music industry. From Metallica and The Prodigy to Primal Scream, Lenny Kravitz, and ACDC, each performance reaffirmed why Hostile Entertainment exists: to support real live music and the communities that surround it.

From Brisbane stadium shows to Sunshine Coast venues and major festivals like The Big Pineapple Music Festival and Good Things Festival, these experiences continue to shape David’s perspective as a booking agent, promoter, publicist, and lifelong music fan, strengthening Hostile Entertainment’s commitment to artists and audiences alike.
Personal Health and Balance
Away from the stage lights, 2025 was also a strong year for personal health and balance.
David continued his training at Snap Fitness, working one-on-one with exercise physiologists Josh, Ash, and Nicky at Sunshine Coast Wellness, alongside group fitness and boxing sessions. Weekly Pilates with Pru also remained part of his routine.
“My strength and fitness have gotten a lot better this year,” David says. “It’s about consistency and showing up, the same way you do for music or business.”
Maintaining control of his diabetes while improving overall fitness has been a major personal win this year.

Creativity in Motion – The Music Project
Alongside running Hostile Entertainment, David spent some time in 2025 working on his own music and recording project with Connor and Pat. Together, they developed new material, refined arrangements, and explored fresh creative directions.
“Every rehearsal feels like progress,” David shares. “I’ve become a better guitar player, and the ideas are getting stronger.”
Plans are in place to record the songs professionally in the coming year, with potential releases on the horizon. “There isn’t any rush to do this, just honest progress.”
Writing the Next Chapter
Writing also played a big role in 2025. Working closely with Eloise, David made meaningful progress on his long-form book project, a deeply personal and professional reflection on his journey in life and the music industry.
“It’s the hardest thing I’ve ever done,” he admits, “but seeing it come together has been incredibly rewarding.”
The goal is to continue refining the manuscript in 2026 and move closer to completion.

Leveling Up Hostile Entertainment
One of the standout milestones of 2025 was the launch of the brand-new Hostile Entertainment website, designed and built by Joel and the Max Capacity Marketing team.
The new site brings together bookings, coaching, publicity, and news into one clear, professional hub. Max Capacity Marketing also supported Hostile Entertainment with ongoing social media management, video production, and marketing campaigns, helping expand reach and engagement across platforms.
“Having a team behind the vision allows me to focus on artists and relationships,” David says.
A major highlight for Hostile Entertainment in 2025 was the success of the Rebecca O’Connor “Simply The Best” As Tina Turner show that was booked and promoted by the team.
The production toured nationally with 17 theatre performances, receiving strong ticket sales and excellent audience feedback. Planning is already underway for the 2026 tour, with shows booked and announced from February through April, and more announcements coming soon.
Hostile Entertainment also helped launch and book shows for Tobias Celebrates The Music Of The Cure and the Neil Anthony As Meat Loaf Show, both gaining strong traction, with more bookings and announcements for 2026 to come.
David continued booking The Bluey Live Interactive Experience, bringing family-friendly entertainment to audiences around Australia.
Mentoring, Coaching, and Giving Back
Beyond shows, Hostile Entertainment expanded its coaching and accountability programs in 2025, supporting artists and creatives with structure, confidence, and career direction.
The launch of a free Bio Writing Guide on the Hostile Entertainment website also introduced many artists to David’s email series filled with practical industry insights.
“Helping artists grow is one of the most rewarding parts of what I do,” David says.
Turn Up Event: Building Industry Connection
Another standout moment was the sold-out Turn Up Sunshine Coast Music Industry Conference, held at The Presynct in Nambour on 23 October 2025.
Co-founded by David through Hostile Entertainment, alongside Andrea Smith and Eloise Brock, the event featured respected industry voices including Barry Bull OAM, Ian “Dicko” Dickson, Amanda Jackes, and Brodie Popple, plus a live showcase from Elke Louie.
Turn Up also partnered with the Woodford Folk Festival to deliver songwriting panels and industry workshops, further strengthening creative education and access.
Looking Ahead to 2026
David will close out 2025 by joining a Woodford Folk Festival panel on Innovation and Inclusion in the Creative Industries on 30 December, before taking a short break and preparing for another busy year with Hostile Entertainment and his other businesses.
More theatre tours, artist collaborations, coaching programs, and creative projects are already in motion for 2026.
“I’m grateful to everyone, artists, venues, industry people and audiences, who continue to support Hostile Entertainment,” David says. “2026 is already shaping up to be another big year.”
Wrapping Up
As the year comes to an end, David Dean and Hostile Entertainment would like to wish everyone a Happy New Year.
Thank you for supporting live music, local artists, and the community that keeps it all moving forward.
“Keep it live, loud, local and I’ll see you at a show in 2026.”
