YOUR ARTIST BIO COULD BE
COSTING YOU OPPORTUNITIES

Download the FREE ‘Artist Bio Guide’ and build an artist bio that venues, promoters and media instantly understand.

After more than 25 years working with artists, venues, promoters and media, David noticed something surprising.

Your artist bio becomes the language promoters, media, venues and fans use to describe your project. If it isn’t clear, every opportunity becomes harder.

Great artists were being overlooked because people couldn’t understand their project quickly enough. This guide was created to solve that problem.

Veratie

Emerging heavy band

The Situation

Veratie came in with strong songs and ambition, but no industry experience, no release plan, and no clear path to shows or traction.

The Work

Hostile Entertainment worked with the band to put proper structure around the project, including:

  • Building a full release and show calendar
  • Securing real gigs alongside established acts
  • Developing their EPK, website, and social presence from scratch
  • Releasing music on Spotify with a clear rollout plan
  • Locking in support slots with international touring bands

The Outcome

Veratie moved from guessing to operating.

They’re now a functioning band with real shows, released music, and a working system behind them.

They’re not famous yet.

But they’re no longer waiting for a break.

Mayah

Independent artist | Online-first growth

The Situation

Mayah wanted to grow without burning out on constant gigging. Rather than chasing low-value shows, the focus shifted to building a real audience online.

The Work

Hostile Entertainment worked with Mayah on an online-first strategy focused on consistency and release momentum, including:

  • Prioritising singles and video content over constant live shows
  • Building a sustainable content and release rhythm
  • Growing streaming and video platforms as primary audience channels
  • Positioning her music for placements beyond the live circuit

The Outcome

Mayah has built a real audience from the screen, not the stage:

  • 600,000+ Spotify streams
  • 22,000 YouTube subscribers
  • 300k+ views on a music video
  • Song placements in major film and web series

She now plays live on her own terms, with momentum that doesn’t depend on venue bookings.

Hayley

Music Studio 60 Owner & Founder | Artist mentoring & event development

The Situation

Music Studio 60 wanted to move beyond lessons and rehearsals and step into a broader role in the local music ecosystem. The goal was to learn how to run events, mentor emerging artists, and build a sustainable artist development pathway, not just a space to practice.

The Work

Hostile Entertainment worked with Music Studio 60 to clarify the vision and turn it into a practical, fundable project, including:

  • Workshopping goals and defining a clear artist mentoring concept

  • Mapping a realistic pathway into events and artist development

  • Supporting a successful grant application to fund the program

  • Designing and managing the artist application process

  • Assisting with applicant review and selection

The Outcome

Music Studio 60 has expanded its impact beyond the studio:

  • Successfully ran its own live event

  • Mentored three emerging young artists through the program

  • Gained hands-on experience in artist development and event delivery

  • Developed a clear roadmap for growing its mentoring and community role

The studio now operates with confidence in this space, with a foundation that supports long-term growth in artist mentoring and events.

This Fellowship supports Brisbane-based artists, arts workers, cultural workers, and creative producers to take the next step in their careers through structured professional development. The Fellowship provides opportunities to learn directly from experienced industry professionals.
RADF is a grants program for artists located outside Brisbane. 59 local councils deliver the Regional Arts Development Fund (RADF), including Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast, Logan, Ipswich, Redland City, and many regional areas. Each Council has differing eligibility rules for it’s RADF offerings, you may have to consult your Council officer for advice on mentoring program eligibility. For more RADF information, visit your local council website at the link here, and search for RADF.

The Regional Arts Fund supports artists and communities in regional and remote areas. There is an address-based eligibility criteria for this funding opportunity. There are two grants on offer:

  • RAF Quick Response Grants: Support small arts or cultural projects that cannot be funded by other means because of their nature or timing and may fund mentoring.
  • RAF Project Grants: Provide major funding for high-quality arts projects benefiting regional or remote artists, arts workers, audiences, and communities. Mentoring may be integrated as an aspect of a larger project.
The Queensland Arts Showcase Program (QASP) supports a thriving, inclusive arts sector by investing in bold new work, creative development, and community engagement across the state. Although QASP is primarily project-based, it may also incorporate a mentoring aspect.
