JC and the Tree Announce New Single “Wide Open Plain”

Release Date: July 25, 2025
“A truly epic and metaphysical musical journey.” – Locals in the Loop
Sunshine Coast folk rock duo JC and the Tree are set to release their boldest track yet, “Wide Open Plain”, on July 25. The song is a cinematic blend of folk, prog rock, and didgeridoo rhythms—capturing the essence of Australia’s wide landscapes and the spirit of the road.

Written during their Big Lap Tour across the Nullarbor, the track blends shimmering violin, earthy vocals, soaring choruses, and time-bending signatures. It’s the first JC and the Tree release to include the deep pulse of the yidaki (didgeridoo)—handcrafted by frontman Jesse Tree himself, alongside his own handmade guitar.
“Euphoric, electrified yidaki, soul-stirring guitar fingerpicking and haunting strings… Eddie Vedder meets John Butler.” – Scenestr
“This song is a big step for us creatively,” says the duo. “It explores how our bodies emerge from the land and return to it, reflecting nature’s cycle of birth, death, and rebirth.”
Hand-drawn cover art and lyrics inspired by First Nations Australian symbolism bring the release full circle—deeply grounded in place, purpose, and sound.

Catch Them Live
JC and the Tree will be touring the east coast, rural VIC and SA throughout August and beyond, including a full band show at Savannah in the Round this October.
