Sunshine Rock and Blues Festival 2019

Posted by on Jun 19, 2019

Following the success of their 2018 inaugural event, the Sunshine Rock & Blues Festival presented by Caloundra RSL returns in June, offering a huge line-up of Australian artists.  Being totally undercover, the RSL has created an all-weather event, which goes ahead rain, hail or shine.

On Friday, the free Main Stage will host country rock maestro 8 Ball Aitken, local blues outfit The East Coast Lows and energetic newcomers to the festival scene, 19-Twenty

In the Function Room, festival goers will be treated to a magical solo acoustic showcase, featuring two of Australia’s most loved musicians.  Jack Jones was still a teenager when he found fame in Southern Sons in the ’90s, with hits like ‘Heart In Danger’, ‘Hold Me In Your Arms’, and ‘Always And Ever’, After more than a decade in America, Jack has returned home and will be performing a very special acoustic show at the festival.

Known as Diesel, American born guitarist/singer Mark Lizotte was launched on to the Australian charts as the leader of Johnny Diesel & the Injectors.  An enduring career was born and now 30 years later Diesel is still rocking Saturday nights around the nation.

Saturday’s Free Main stage lineup features international headliner Ash Grunwald, with local duo Euphoria Under Fire, Nathan Kaye and Matty Rogers.  Back in the Function Room, John Swan, also known as Swanee, joins Melbourne soul, blues & rock band The Badloves and one of Australia’s most enduring singers, Russell Morris.

Sunday morning, the club presents “Songwriters in The Round”, an acoustic breakfast show. With up close and personal seating surrounding the artists, last year this event was described as “The hottest show of the Festival!”  8 Ball Aitken, Michael Bryers and Matty Rogers will be joined by one of Australia’s rising talents Taylor Henderson, to perform and talk about their original songs.

The festival weekend finishes with two big shows on the main stage, Taylor Henderson followed by The Round Mountain Girls.

Tickets start at just $59 and can be purchased in person at Caloundra RSL or on-line.  For the full weekend lineup and to purchase tickets, go to www.caloundrarsl.com.au
