ELKE LOUIE RELEASES STIRRING DEBUT SINGLE ‘KILLING TIME’ — OUT NOW

Emerging indie folk singer-songwriter Elke Louie has officially released her debut single ‘Killing Time’, now available on all streaming platforms. The track is the first glimpse into her forthcoming debut EP, set for release in early 2026.

With heartfelt lyricism, acoustic warmth, and a voice that carries both power and vulnerability, ‘Killing Time’ explores themes of stillness, self-reflection, and the passage of time. Recorded at Mantle Records with Clare and Lawrence of Those Folk, the single showcases Elke’s ability to craft songs that are both deeply personal and universally resonant.

Elke will celebrate the release with a hometown launch show on Sunday, November 9 at qube226 in Gympie, supported by Mestise.

“Killing Time was the very first song I recorded as a solo folk artist. It feels like the foundation for everything I want to create moving forward — honest, reflective, and unafraid to feel big feelings,” Elke said. “It’s a piece of me, frozen in sound, and I’m so excited to finally share it.”

Producer Clare Quinn shared, “Elke has incredible musical talent and a maturity beyond her years. Co-producing her debut EP alongside Lawrence Menard has been an absolute honour.”

Elke’s music has already caught the attention of industry watchers, with The Pineapple describing her voice as “beautiful and powerful, reminiscent of Missy Higgins or Courtney Barnett.”

With her authentic storytelling and rich musical depth, Elke Louie is quickly emerging as one of Australia’s most exciting new voices in indie folk.

This Fellowship supports Brisbane-based artists, arts workers, cultural workers, and creative producers to take the next step in their careers through structured professional development. The Fellowship provides opportunities to learn directly from experienced industry professionals.
REGIONAL ARTS DEVELOPMENT FUND (RADF)
RADF is a grants program for artists located outside Brisbane. 59 local councils deliver the Regional Arts Development Fund (RADF), including Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast, Logan, Ipswich, Redland City, and many regional areas. Each Council has differing eligibility rules for it’s RADF offerings, you may have to consult your Council officer for advice on mentoring program eligibility. REGIONAL ARTS FUND

The Regional Arts Fund supports artists and communities in regional and remote areas. There is an address-based eligibility criteria for this funding opportunity. There are two grants on offer:

  • RAF Quick Response Grants: Support small arts or cultural projects that cannot be funded by other means because of their nature or timing and may fund mentoring.
  • RAF Project Grants: Provide major funding for high-quality arts projects benefiting regional or remote artists, arts workers, audiences, and communities. Mentoring may be integrated as an aspect of a larger project.
QUEENSLAND ARTS SHOWCASE PROGRAM (QASP)
The Queensland Arts Showcase Program (QASP) supports a thriving, inclusive arts sector by investing in bold new work, creative development, and community engagement across the state. Although QASP is primarily project-based, it may also incorporate a mentoring aspect.
